Millions of WhatsApp users on Android have been anxiously waiting for the app to be updated for the past few months, when the company made it clear that it will be bringing voice calling to the app. It ultimately did and in just a couple of updates the much awaited voice calling feature was activated for all of its users. Then came Material Design’s turn and while the app with the new UI has been in beta for quite some time now, it’s finally available for everyone through the Google Play Store.
Google unveiled Material Design last year when it announced Android Lollipop. It’s a new design philosophy for its mobile platform which features animations, an emphasis on colors and an overall light and modern look.

To make their apps look consistent with the Material Design UI of Android 5.0 Lollipop, developers then updated their applications to suit the user interface.

WhatsApp for Android got the same treatment but for a couple of months it has been in beta, which is only available through the company’s website. Users have to manually download the app and then sideload it.

This process, while simple, can be confusing for people who have never done it before, which is why they’ll be particularly relieved to see that the Material Design touting WhatsApp for Android can now easily be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
